Anderkin 12 Lice Chapter 2 by ~happy-monday:iconhappy-monday:

"Would you shut off that bloody alarm already!?" came an angry voice from the hallway.

The two humans who had been sitting inside their quarters snapped awake, blinking at the girl who glared at them, arms crossed over her chest. She was barely 14 and yet she seemed to command them with as much power and certainty as any of their superiors- and of course they didn't like that.

"Fo-hy, the button's just right there, do it yourself!"

The speaker was an ugly, overweight man who had crammed himself into some kind of skin-tight synthetic material which reminded the girl painfully of Elvis. However, his skin was far too green (he wasn't entirley human) and his hair was in a buzz-cut and he had no interest in music at all, so they weren't all that similar.

Frowning in distaste, she waded through the piles of rubbish, hoping that her new pants wouldn't get stained with grease or anything. After almost toppling over the Leaning Tower of Old Pizza Boxes and seriously damaging a coffee table, she made it over to the big red button and hit it.

Gneeeee-- youmph!

The alarm shut off.

The several thousand inhabitants of the ship who could detect it breathed a collective sigh of relief, for Fo-hy was not the only one it pissed off.

"Next time, do it yourself, you fat ugly lard!" she yelled angrily as she ransacked her way back through. It was too late; she'd already stained her pants, and she was going to make these idiots pay.

The other human- a woman who looked almost anorexic, and who had clearly been bred to ressemble something that wasn't human, with huge bulging brown eyes and ridiculously puffy blonde hair- stood up and looked like she was ready to block Fo-hy's way out and exact fatty's vengeance for him, but the young teen simply reached out and shoved the twig-lady out of the way. "And you should eat something, toothpick!"

She danced nimbly out of the room and down the hallway.

That was two out of the only four people on this ship who looked remotely similar to her, which depressed her; but the other two weren't quite so bad. They actually looked guilty when they saw her! And they didn't hang out with lardy and convex humaness.

Fo-hy continued to walk down the hallway for several minutes until she heard a sound in the wall next to her. It was unmistakable, the sound of metal gnawing through a ship's innards, or at least she thought so. Curious, she walked right on over and tapped the wall where the grating buzz was coming from.

It stopped instantly, paused briefly, and then seemed to commence with renewed vigor.

She stood back in surprise, staring at the spot on the wall as it quickly broke open and the strangest piece of machinery came crawling out. It fluttered towards her on helicopter-like wings, spots on its body that might have been eyes glowing aqua-marine, and surveyed her in a way that could only be described as curious.

Without thinking, Fo-hy extended her hand, and the louse alighted on it, preening itself against her hand. She smiled, but hearing people approaching, turned to slide the thing into her pocket. It looked intelligent, maybe it would follow suit...

It was a sidy. This one had taken its body from a creature that looked an intersting mix between a toad and a pile of tin cans, and probably wasn't happy about its parent-bots' choice. One of the round cylindrical tin-can parts turned to reveal a screen over which small, red text that she thought she identified as Times New Roman scrolled across.

"H. u. Hu. Human Specie Individual English #12-1-8 please follow Q. T. QT. QTRE-910 Soshul Di-veedis of N. o. No. Nornempkt Individual N√e¼¼◘♀Ω╙t4╜ï to the operations base."

She hated this ancient system, it took so long to get a simple message across: Follow me. But she did as she was told, anyway- although she was more or less aware of what went on at the operations base.

Sidy implantations.

Author's Comments

This chapter is kinda helter-skelter because patching it together... was hard to do. For some reason.

Apparently this is not "Science Fiction" but "Science Fictions", too. I'm so good one deviation counts as many!

Cool. A little all over the place, but cool. It leaves me wanting more, and that's the main thing!
PS: That louse is cute :)
